STEP 7 (TIA Portal) gives you the option of importing variables from Microsoft Excel into your PLC data type.
Description In this video we show you how to import variables from Microsoft Excel into a PLC data type and into a data block in TIA Portal.
Instructions Prepare your data in Microsoft Excel as shown in this example. To then import your variables to STEP 7 (TIA Portal), proceed as follows.
In Excel you mark all the cells that include your variables and save the data in the buffer memory using the key combination "CTRL+C".
Open the TIA Portal.
Open your project tree and add a new PLC data type.
Assign a name for the new PLC data type, e.g. ControlVariables.
In the "PLC data type" select the first upper line.
Then click on the top left cell and press the key combination "CTRL+V". Note With this procedure, all variables are displayed correctly.
Create a new global data block.
Assign a name, e.g. Control Variable.
Mark the first upper line in the data block.
Click on the top left cell and press the key combination "CTRL+V".
Save and compile your project.
The procedure shown also works analogously for copying into variable tables. The reverse procedure, copying from the TIA Portal and pasting into Excel, also works without any problems.
